Two pieces for vibraphone

1981, 1986 — vibraphone

Although related, the two pieces for vibraphone were conceived and composed independently. The first has a very simple structure, with predominantly chordal textures. Its harmonies achieve variable balances of consonance-dissonance, I would almost say of tonality-atonality. The second piece was composed in 1986 and has a more complex structure, consisting of different sections with heterogeneous materials. The use of different types of mallets and articulations creates contrasts in timbral and dynamic levels. My intention was to explore the technical possibilities of the instrument while maintaining its idiomatic qualities.
